Responsibilities

A Student Nurse Intern will work under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) providing care to a diverse population of patients. Responsibilities include assisting both the RN and the nursing assistant (NA) with activities of daily living, basic nursing care to non-critical patients, and assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for both patients and staff. Additionally, the student intern assists with the collection of baseline and on-going assessment data as well as, monitoring for patient responses to interventions. The Student Nurse Intern will provide patients with educational instructions and provide treatment under the supervision of the RN.

The program is 6-weeks in length. One day per week, the Student Nurse Intern will attend an education session (4 hour) on a specific topic related to nursing care. Student Nurse Interns will be assigned to various patient care units and can spend time in specialty areas such as the Peri-Operative Services, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Maternal Child Health Services, and Emergency Services. The Student Nurse Intern will be able to choose up to four specialty areas.



Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and within 2 years of successfully completing the program.
2. Current BLS (ARC or AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
