SUMMARY: Performs more complex testing procedures on various types of equipment and/or products, and collects and analyzes the associated data. Provide guidance to less experienced team members. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following; performs other duties as directed.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree in a technical discipline (preferred associates degree in fire protection); or six years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and understand written instructions, e.g. safety notices and rules, test procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, etc. Ability to write routine reports and explain facts, practices, policies, etc. to peers and coworkers. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Demonstrated understanding of and ability to apply all basic math functions, e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. COMPUTER SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to work within Microsoft Office applications. Ability to type preferred. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to reason in a teamwork atmosphere. Ability to learn, change, and adapt as needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to handle, or feel objects, tools, and controls. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those which must be met by an employee to sucessfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The work environment consists of a number of lab areas and machine shop areas. While the Company makes every effort to reduce and eliminate all safety hazards, this type of environment does involve safety hazards which require extra care on the part of the employee. Such hazards include, but are not limited to: moderate to high pressure test gases and liquids in test systems; extreme high and low temperature test fluids and items; high electrical voltages; chemicals; and sharp objects, such as might be generated around machine tools. The noise in the work environment is moderate. Temperature extremes are regulated, but not as closely as typical indoor offices. PPE will be provided when necessary. |
