Position Summary: This position is responsible for leading, planning, and coordinating the Field Services team. Responsibilities include direct oversight and supervision of department employees and department functions. Personnel includes administrative employees and bargaining unit field employees. Core department functions include installing, connecting, disconnecting, removing, and troubleshooting self-contained single-phase, three-phase, and network meter types and mitigating theft of service.
Position Responsibilities
- Stay abreast of the latest trends in meter technologies to make recommendations for short-term and long-term initiatives and process changes.
- Manage department budget and operate within budget. Participate in long-range meter planning to ensure adequate meter inventory levels.
- Report monthly performance metrics to leadership and direct reports.
- Collaborate within the Member Services division and across all departments to investigate and resolve theft of service conditions, meter-related billing adjustments, and service order delays.
- Ensure adequate staffing, training, and enforcement of policies and guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling, performance metrics, new hire and refresher training, and coaching/counseling.
- Maintain assigned vehicles and ensure proper care by department employees. Perform routine vehicle inspections, follow-up on employee driver reports, and follow all vehicle related policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Collaborate with Member Services division to develop training plans and procedure documents for Member Support Professionals related to department specific topics.
- Lead department and cross-functional objectives, projects, and process improvement initiatives. Participate in divisional strategy planning and execution.
- Develop and maintain scheduling practices that equally and efficiently distributes work to ensure service standards are met on internal requests and member requests, i.e. connects, disconnects.
- Conduct routine safety meetings and field observations with department employees. Ensure field staff has the required equipment and materials to perform their work safely and adequately.
- Coordinate and oversee multi-unit meter projects and service location/meter audits. Act as liaison between LCEC and external developers and contractors.
- Maintain department emergency restoration and disaster recovery plans. Participate in emergency recovery operations in accordance with restoration plan guidelines.
- Maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and adequate understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters courteously and promptly
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent. (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree Business administration, Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering), or related field (Work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. See below.) (Preferred)
Experience
- 5+ to 7 Years Experience working with 120/240 volt single-phase and three-phase wiring (Required)
- 2+ to 5 Years Supervisory and mentoring experience with progressive responsibilities (Required)
- 1+ to 2 Years Utility experience working in a member-facing field or administrative position (Preferred)
- 1+ to 2 Years Experience supervising bargaining unit employees and managing union relations (Preferred)
