Overview

Gilbane is seeking a Senior Technologist to be responsible for providing End User support to area sites and staff and provide training and guidance to customers as it relates to Gilbane's standard applications and hardware usage. A Senior Technologist is considered the technology owners for their areas. Responsible to provide optimal service for PCs, switches, routers, cell phones, printers, multi-function products, office PBX, standard company applications, and the introduction of new technologies. This role will sit primarily in the office.

Responsibilities

    Act as the representative of the technology organization at all regional leadership meetings including strategic planning sessions.
  • Perform analytical, technical and administrative work in the planning, design, and installation of new personal computer systems, peripherals, networks, and end-user software
  • Confer with end users to determine types of hardware and software required
  • Provide end-user support in the installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of all technologies located within assigned office or business unit, including but not limited to laptop and desktop computers, network servicers, printers and peripherals, Microsoft operating systems and applications, and basic network devices including switches and hubs
  • Perform basic network administration including ID creation, password resets, as well as monitoring and maintenance of file systems and back up devices and software in conjunction with other GTG professionals
  • Participate and assist in planning and performing user relocations
  • Ensure compliance with information security implications and technology solutions
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships between GTG and external technology partners
  • Authorize and appropriately code all equipment invoices for payment
  • Manage, control and document inventory to ensure accurate asset management
  • Purchase and install all Video Conference and Telephone systems and provides support on an ongoing basis
  • Educate and train new employees on equipment use and GTG policies and practices
  • Order, activate, and train on all mobile device services
  • Work with Department Heads and Business Unit Managers on capital equipment budgets


Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • BS in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • 3-5 years of technology-related experience
  • 2 or more years of experience supporting a small to medium sized network
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Exchange and Outlook
  • Solid understanding of office cabling, workstation and server operating systems
  • Ability to balance jobsite and office needs
  • Ability to prioritize and understand urgency and magnitude to the business
  • Ability to work and lead in a team environment, including the ability to manage personal and team priorities with minimal supervision
  • Ability to interface with a variety of technical and business personnel
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to direct, organize and communication with others

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

For Providence, RI this ranges from $79,000.00-$99,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
