Essential Job Duties |
The Agroecology Lab Technician will work under the supervision of the Agroecology Professor to support the establishment and growth of the Agroecology Lab. The technician will assist in a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the functionality and efficiency of the lab while contributing to ongoing agricultural research and education projects. Key responsibilities will include organizing and maintaining the laboratory space, developing and refining standard operating protocols for the Agroecology Education Farm and the Sustainable Agriculture Systems Unit (
SASU), and supporting the setup of equipment and tools necessary for agricultural education and outreach initiatives (e.g., sensors). The technician will also assist in reviewing and summarizing relevant scientific literature, drafting reports and educational materials, and collaborating with the Agroecology Education Farm manager and
SASU technician to ensure smooth project execution and coordination across various activities. Additionally, the technician will play a key role in developing and fostering relationships with farmers in the region to support collaborative research and community-based outreach efforts.
This position will be best served by someone with good computer and organizational skills. It is expected that the person serving in this role will develop skills and knowledge on the job so a good attitude, strong interest in sustainable agriculture, and enthusiasm to learn will be essential. |
