Essential Job Duties |
The College of Sciences is seeking a Research Accounting Technician to provide post-award financial support for faculty conducting innovative research. In this role, you'll play a vital part in managing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with federal and university guidelines, and helping researchers navigate the complexities of grant administration. Reporting to theAssistant Director of Post-Award Administration, you'll collaborate closely with faculty to keep their projects on track and running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage post-award financial transactions, including reconciliations, re-budgets, and budget justifications.
- Process no-cost extensions, summer salary, and salary release requests.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations for sponsored research projects.
- Provide grant accounting support to faculty, assisting with financial reporting and transaction oversight.
- Collaborate with research administrators to proactively address project needs and compliance issues.
- Navigate university systems to efficiently initiate and track financial transactions.
- Serve as a key resource for faculty, helping them manage budgets and administrative tasks effectively.
- Work as part of a dynamic team, supporting financial stewardship and research excellence.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Other Required Qualifications |
- Knowledge of governmental budgeting practices and procedures.
- Experience managing and reconciling grant accounts.
- Proficiency in grant management systems (e.g., PeopleSoft Financial & HR, WOLF Reports, Labor & Payroll Distribution Reports, PINS, RADAR, ePAR).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Apps.
- Knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Uniform Guidance.
- Familiarity with OMB Circulars A-21, A-110, and A-133.
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Privacy Principles (GAPP) and university spending guidelines.
- Ability to interpret and apply funding agency policies and regulations.
- Knowledge of accounting principles related to grant management.
- Proficiency in Excel for spreadsheets, formulas, and financial tracking.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Financial management experience, including budgeting and compliance.
- Knowledge of university spending guidelines and research administration (pre/post-award).
- Experience with NIH and NSF-sponsored projects.
- Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential preferred.
- Proficiency in Smartsheets.
