Essential Job Duties
The apprenticeship will work closely alongside the farm manager to develop skills necessary for future work in a farm education managerial position. The apprentice will work directly with and lead undergraduate student crew members on general farm tasks. Time will be built into the apprentice's schedule for professional development and intensive training in areas decided by the apprentice and farm manager together.

As an apprentice, you'll be involved in all aspects of farm production along with educational programming. You will develop proficiency in the following areas:

  • Harvesting
  • Irrigation
  • Transplanting and seeding
  • Weeding
  • Bed prep
  • Washing/ packing
  • Crop planning
  • Soil health assessment
  • Compost management
  • Equipment use/maintenance
  • Season extension
  • Integrated pest management
  • Leading groups
  • Public speaking
  • Program planning
  • Curriculum development
  • And more!


This position requires some farm experience - at least 6 months is ideal. However, it is expected that the apprentice will develop skills and knowledge on the job so a good attitude, strong interest in sustainable agriculture, and enthusiasm to learn will be essential for this role.
