Role and Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Driver to join our team. As the Meals on Wheels Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting meals and materials as assigned to and from job sites.



  • Act as a liaison between customers and the kitchen, ensuring that all meals are made for our customers.
  • Take an accurate count of daily meals needed and load thermos and food containers onto the delivery van.
  • Ensure all containers are accounted for and loaded securely to prevent spills.
  • Deliver meals (both congregate and individual) to assigned sites, carrying food items inside as directed.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records and mark participants who are not home.
  • Collect any pans ready to be returned.
  • Move Cambro food containers between locations as needed.
  • Clean Cambro food containers and other food containers daily.
  • Clean and maintain the delivery van as necessary.
  • Complete daily pre-drive safety checks and report any issues to the Driver Supervisor.
  • Log food temperatures every two hours, using an infrared thermometer and weekly logs.
  • Read and understand food safety labels and hygiene instructions.
  • Follow Meals on Wheels Staff Guidelines.
  • Complete tasks efficiently and on time.
  • Assist kitchen staff as needed during meal preparation.
  • Handle complaints politely and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • 3 Years clean driving record (Preferred)


Preferred Skills:



  • Strong commitment to a high level of service and quality standards.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly regarding food safety and food hygiene procedures.


Physical Demands:



  • Lifting and carrying food containers
  • Navigating stairs and uneven surfaces while delivering meals.
  • Repeated bending and stretching to load/unload meals from the vehicle.
  • Long periods of sitting and driving, sometimes in tight or uncomfortable positions.
  • Frequent use of hands for driving, opening containers, and delivering meals.
  • Walking and standing for extended periods during deliveries.
  • Reasonable accommodations can be made.


Environmental Demands:



  • Exposure to varying weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold).
  • Navigating different types of terrain (urban, suburban, rural).
  • Potentially dealing with traffic, road hazards, and challenging driving conditions.
  • Working in residential areas with tight parking or difficult access points.
  • Encountering different environmental factors (e.g., noisy areas, high or low light conditions).
  • Exposure to household pets or people with health conditions during deliveries.
