Role and Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Porter/Janitor to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for all who enter.



  • Perform general cleaning duties: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting all areas of the building.
  • Ensure floors, windows, and surfaces are clean and well-maintained: Including cleaning carpets, wiping down surfaces, and washing windows (interior and sometimes exterior).
  • Ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies, clean, and sanitary.
  • Wiping down and disinfecting common areas: Including kitchens, lounges, lobbies, and conference rooms.
  • Replacing light bulbs and addressing small maintenance issues (e.g., fixing leaks, unclogging drains).
  • Ensuring faucets, toilets, and sinks are functioning correctly.
  • Performing routine inspections for hazards: Identifying spills, broken equipment, or exposed wires that could pose safety risks.
  • Addressing spills, broken glass, or water damage promptly.
  • Sorting recyclables and disposing of hazardous materials: Handling items like broken glass or chemicals according to safety protocols.
  • Removing dirt, streaks, and smudges for a polished look.
  • Assist with outdoor maintenance: Including snow removal and maintaining exterior cleanliness (sweeping, raking leaves, etc.).
  • Ensuring proper exterior lighting and outdoor areas are maintained.
  • Ensuring pathways and entranceways are clear and tidy.
  • Keeping track of stock levels and ordering supplies as necessary.
  • Quickly addressing spills, broken glass, or cleaning up after water damage.


Qualifications:



  • No experience, no problem!
  • Attention to detail
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic.
  • Safety awareness


Preferred Skills:



  • Effective time management skills
  • Basic Maintenance skills
  • Great customer service skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning products and equipment.


Physical Demands:



  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items, such as cleaning supplies
  • Spend long hours standing and walking during cleaning tasks.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, and crouch to clean floors, surfaces, and restrooms.
  • Perform repetitive tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing.
  • Good hand-eye coordination is required for operating cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Reasonable accommodations can be provided


Environmental Demands:



  • Work in various environments, including offices, restrooms, and outdoor areas.
  • Possible exposure to heat, cold, rain, or snow while performing outdoor tasks.
  • Use of cleaning chemicals; must follow safety guidelines.
  • Exposure to noise from cleaning equipment and machinery.
