Summary

The Area Branch Operations Manager - Construction is responsible for the performance of multiple Branch Operations - including operations, productivity, profitability, assets, budgeting and customer relationships. Additionally, is accountable for the immediate and on-going disposition of the Construction Division strategy throughout their responsible branches.

Essential Functions

  • Lead team comprised of Branch Supervisors and support personnel.
  • Lead performance across safety, employee, customer and operational metrics.
  • Partner across organization to develop & execute growth, operational, and people development plans.
  • Ensure all safety programs, internal audit standards, organizational processes, company policies, etc., are adhered to across their responsible branches.
  • Develop and administer accurate annual and longer-range budget/forecast plans with Director of Branch Operations.
  • Meet with customers whenever needed to promote value-creating solutions and to resolve problems. Maintain contact with major customers within territory.
  • Build supportive relationships with all departmental and Functional leaders. Help them with information, advice, support, perspective and analysis.
  • Define parameters and implement procedures to enhance and maximize the long-term profitability of Parts and Service operations.
  • Maintain excellent relationships and reputation with Caterpillar and other manufacturers we represent.
  • Provide leadership and expertise for continuous improvement of key functions to best in the areas of efficiency, quality, profitability and responsiveness. Understands and effectively employs change management, lean and similar process improvement tools and techniques in daily work and coach same within areas of responsibility.
  • Review and respond to SQDC (Metrics) boards for visual management purposes
  • Develop the skills of the branch leadership team to ensure their professional growth, customer service, and leadership skills are aligned with the Carolina CAT/CTE culture.
  • Assist Branch Supervisors in creating goals and performance standards for department.
  • Perform mid-year and annual performance evaluation reviews for employees that are assigned to them.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University preferred
  • 5+ years direct CAT Parts and Service experience or 10 years industry experience in heavy equipment
  • 5+ years of management experience, with specific experience as a "leader of leaders"
  • High level of performance in prior roles *Internal Applicants*

Computer Skills

  • Expert knowledge of key operating systems: DBS, ServiceLink and MDS
  • Expert knowledge of critical CAT applications: SIS, ET and Dealer DSN
  • Functional knowledge of phone system and ability to manage customers through it
  • Expert capability with Microsoft Office suite of applications, IBM IPA and other applications utilized by Carolina CAT operations

The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in some work environments is occasionally loud.
