Your role on the team:



  • Manages the US payroll operations process, including all associated systems (e.g., UKG, WFM, etc.), pre-calculation activities, payroll calculation and confirmation, as well as coordination of all post payroll processing activities, ensuring accurate, timely, and cost-effective payroll service delivery.
  • Manages the reconciliation of payroll, and performance/support of periodic audits to ensure that payroll data and tax calculations are accurate, including wage reconciliations, tax reconciliations and filings including Federal, State, and local statues, whether periodic, or annual, as required by applicable US legislation.
  • Designs and implements strategies for continuous improvement and efficiencies in payroll processing.
  • Develops and implement standards, schedules, and guidelines for payroll processing operations by determining requirements, and identifying resources in accordance with government regulations.
  • Ensures that the company is in compliance with statutes and regulations related to payroll, including enforcing compliance issues.
  • Manages the payroll exception process, including approvals of manual checks.
  • Oversees the payroll accounting process, including payroll accounting entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, etc.
  • Manages and reviews garnishments and the garnishment processes.
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors payroll processing calendars, schedules of reconciliation, year-end activities, applicable metrics, segregation of duties as needed, and that appropriate controls exist within the payroll service delivery model.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Ensure adherence to Davis-Bacon Act (DBA) pay practices as applicable. Remains current on Federal and state tax laws regarding payroll statutes and reporting procedures
  • Support operating managers and employees as "customers," and act as a liaison with peers in HR, IT, Finance, etc. in a team environment and demeanor.
  • Provide all ad-hoc management reporting and data requests as needed/warranted.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.
  • Supports GEODIS' programs for Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, Ethics, Compliance, CSR, and Sustainability


What you need:



  • Minimum 8-10 years' payroll management experience, 5yrs in leadership role.
  • CPP preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal and state tax laws pertinent to payroll and reporting (International laws and regulation preferred)
  • Proficiency with payroll systems and software (e.g., UKG, ADP, Oracle, Workday)
  • Ability to read and interpret financial documents and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize, ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
