Summary
- Lead a team of engineers in the testing, validation, and development of commercial vans, trucks, and other heavy-duty vehicles
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including global R&D, regional engineering groups, and external partners, to align vehicle testing and development strategies with the North American market requirements.
- Commercial vehicles test and development aligns with our corporate goal of delivering the best vehicles for the North American customer through regional technical leadership and local/global collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee the execution of vehicle testing programs, including performance, durability and safety.
- Support Engineers in conducting comprehensive vehicle testing in various environments (road, proving grounds, laboratories) to validate product performance, quality, and compliance with standards (FMVSS, FMCSA).
- Provide feedback to global R&D teams regarding vehicle performance and assist in continuous improvement efforts.
- Manage and oversee vehicle development budgets, project timelines, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of programs.
- Develop and maintain testing standards, procedures, and specifications; ensure proper documentation and communication of test results.
- Manage a fleet of prototype vehicles and manage resources for testing activities such as fleet updates, "fit for test" sign-offs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers, providing regular feedback, performance reviews, and coaching.
- Delegate work assignments effectively, ensuring the team has the necessary resources and support to succeed.
- Collaborate with universities, national labs, and external research bodies on advanced technology projects, including electrification and safety technologies.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of internal and external benchmark tests and evaluations.
- Report on the status and outcomes of testing programs to senior management, providing actionable insights and recommendations for product improvements.
- Manage administrative tasks, including purchasing requests, timecards, and travel arrangements for team members.

Compensation
$130,000-$160,000 Basic Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in vehicle engineering with a focus on commercial vehicle testing and development.
- Proven leadership experience in managing engineers and large-scale development projects.
- Deep knowledge of commercial vehicle systems, including powertrains (ICE, BEV, FCEV), ADAS, chassis, electrical systems, and telematics.
- Extensive experience with vehicle testing, validation, and regulatory compliance (FMVSS, FMCSA, CARB, EPA, etc.).
- Strong data-driven decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in planning, executing, and monitoring projects
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Flexibility in handling multiple projects and changing priorities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
