In Fremont, CA, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules and subsystems to support our customer's next generation networks. Molex is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer to work on the development of Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) and Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) technologies and products. This role involves significant hands-on laboratory work, along with programming and data analysis responsibilities. What You Will Do * Collaborate with the LCOS team to establish or refine testing criteria for LC materials and LCOS devices for performance and reliability testing. * Perform simulation and modeling on LC devices and assist in LC material selection, development, and characterization. * Develop and improve test stations for characterizing optical and electrical devices. * Develop or revise work instructions for tests used in R&D or production settings. * Work with design authority, product engineering, and manufacturing teams to identify and prioritize failure modes for root cause analysis or improved screening techniques. * Support qualification activities for optical devices by performing or organizing testing and presenting test results. * Contribute to Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiment (DOE) in the product design phase for performance and reliability validation. * Collaborate with the optical device assembly team to develop fabrication processes. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * MS or Ph.D. in Physics, Materials or Optical Engineering * Experience in simulation and modeling of LC devices. * Background in laboratory management and optical device assembly. * Programming experience in data analysis and test automation. * Proficiency in programming tools and languages such as LCD Master, COMSOL, Python, MATLAB, and LabVIEW. * For this role, we anticipate paying $100,000 - $150,000 per year.
