Job Summary/Primary Purpose: The dance instructor will be responsible for teaching dance classes, developing curriculum and assessments, and establishing collaborative partnerships within the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for teaching dance at School of Music classes.
• Coordinate student worship performances.
• Required to attend assigned staff meetings.
• Able to teach additional classes and workshops as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and/or Experience:

• Two years teaching dance required; five years preferred of teaching experience.
• Provide a record of dance performance experience.
• Evidence of experience in curriculum development.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

• Have the ability to work with children, parents and staff in a capacity of leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.
• Performance experience in individual content area of teaching.
• Experience in curriculum development of dance.
• Is expected to start class on time with room set-up and reset room as required.
• Have a philosophy of education and child development, which is consistent with that of The Salvation Army.
• A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible.
• A willingness to promote the mission of the Salvation Army.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 30 days of hire as established by The Salvation Army.

• Satisfactory speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity.

Working Conditions: The majority of the workday will be in an office environment at normal room temperature. Some locations may be considered moderately loud in nature.
