Job Summary:

Ensure that customers, both internal and external, receive the quality Ambulance that they expect by inspecting the vehicle and reporting any necessary repairs/corrections before delivery

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reporting deficiencies in design and suggestions for improvements in design and assembly technique.
  • Responsible for water testing, fixing leaks, and weighing of ambulances.
  • Responsible for final cosmetic sign-off of emergency vehicles.
  • Responsible for inspection and function testing of all vehicles received.
  • Responsible for verifying options to orders.
  • Responsible for completing a cosmetic tag.
  • Responsible for daily assignments of the hourly production team to meet schedule commitments and cycle time requirements.
  • Reviews all work within the department to ensure technical accuracy of the work meets customer requirements,
  • Review all work to ensure engineering design is as expected per engineering prints, bills of material, work instructions, and quality documentation. Assures all workmanship standards are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost objectives are visible and understood by their team.
  • Responsible for notifying the Director of Ops and/or supervisors if not on schedule.
  • Ensures department meets standards of safety and 5-S requirements
  • Promotes the use and application of continuous improvement tools in Lean Manufacturing as part of the culture.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
  • Accountable for ensuring all quality and regulatory standards are met. Responsible for ensuring appropriate actions are taken to meet all requirements, including stopping production if appropriate.

Requirements (experience, travel, physical, work environment):

  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions and work instructions
  • Close attention to detail
  • Function with a minimal amount of supervision
  • Set work priorities to meet production goals
  • Ability to train new inspectors
  • Knowledge of basic 12 volt electric system
  • Must be able to drive and road test vehicle
  • Able to complete Detailing duties as assigned by Department
  • Ability to utilize linear and other types of measuring devices effectively
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards
  • Ability to recognize quality expected and be able to reproduce it
  • Problem solving and project managements skills
  • Must possess good mechanical ability and component operation function
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
  • Must understand drive trains and power unit operation and be able to troubleshoot
  • Use functional gauging assigned for inspection of vehicles
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with demonstrated team building and conflict resolution ability. Excellent employee skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize and exercise independent judgment.
  • Must be able to work OT and Saturdays when needed

Education and Experience:

  • Five ( 3-5 ) years' experience in QC Inspector or equivalent experience
  • Experience with hand tools
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must have assembly experience

  • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, employees regularly work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals

Production Facility

Personal Protective Equipment Recommended and/or Required on Production Floor:

  • Safety Glasses
  • Earplugs
  • Closed-toe shoes/safety footwear

The pay scale for newly hired employees in this position at this location in California is between $22 - $29. This is based on meeting all of the requirements of the role. The base pay offered for the role may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We are proud to offer competitive benefits in addition to competitive pay.
