Are you a detail-oriented team player with a passion for patient service? Join our Cataract and Refractive Surgery clinic in Westwood as a Surgery Coordinator and be the expert for patients navigating the surgical process. In this role, you'll ensure each patient's journey-from consultation to post-op-is smooth, seamless, and stress-free. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Schedule clinic visits and coordinate all related surgery appointments with accuracy
  • Review consent forms and pre-op instructions with patients
  • Oversee patients' medical clearances
  • Coordinate procedure details with patients, doctors, and OR staff
  • Secure pre-authorizations, referrals, and insurance approvals
  • Guide patients through their financial options, coordinate payments and financial services
  • Check patients in/out, prepare medical charts, and assist doctors with special projects as needed

Salary Range: $29.42-$42.14

Qualifications
Required:
  • Understanding basic ophthalmic terminology and being familiar with the signs and symptoms of various ophthalmic problems.
  • Ability to check patients in/out, schedule surgery, related tests, and postoperative appointments, keeping everybody informed of changes.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records.
  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction and in a timely manner.
  • Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly both in person and on the telephone to communicate to physicians, patients, staff, and others.
  • Ability to stay organized in an expanding and changing office
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism while dealing with stressful situations.
  • Ability to answer patient questions and knowing when urgent evaluation is indicated.
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, staff, co-workers, patients, and others
  • Skill in recognizing and managing emergency situations.
  • Ability to handle heavy telephone traffic and assist callers with their needs or refer them appropriately.
  • Ability to set and follow through on priorities and complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload, pressures, and deadlines.
