The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor plays a pivotal role in the logistics and supply chain operations within the industry, particularly focused on the supervision and oversight of shipping and receiving tasks. This position is crucial for ensuring the effective and efficient movement of goods and materials, upholding inventory accuracy, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. The supervisor is responsible for coordinating the activities of the shipping and receiving staff, strategizing logistics plans, and collaborating with other departments to meet company-wide objectives.

Key Responsibilities

A Shipping and Receiving Supervisor oversees a wide range of duties to facilitate the seamless operation of Sunshine's warehouse. The core responsibilities and daily activities include:



  • Managing and scheduling the work activities of shipping and receiving team.
  • Ensuring that shipments are processed promptly and stored correctly.
  • Maintaining records of all incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Ensuring products are stocked correctly and inventory levels are maintained.
  • Verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Implementing safety procedures and standards in handling of goods.
  • Utilizing logistics IT to optimize procedures.


  • Preparation of shipping documents and labeling packages for shipment.
  • Inspecting loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
  • Handling and resolving any issues or discrepancies related to shipping and receiving.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization within the warehouse.
  • Providing leadership, training, and support to the shipping and receiving team.
  • Implementing cost-reduction initiatives in shipping and receiving processes.
  • Other job duties as assigned.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Yes

EDUCATION



  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; however, a bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is highly preferred.


EXPERIENCE



  • At least 3 years of relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in shipping and receiving or warehouse management.
  • At least 2 years' experience working in a supervisory capacity
  • Strong knowledge of logistics and inventory software.
  • Understanding of compliance regulations and safety procedures in warehouse settings.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



  • Applicable certifications a plus.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES



  • Language/Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as emails, report and correspondence. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English and Spanish. Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Moderate computer knowledge of Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Math Skills: Ability to use mathematics to solve problems.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to problem solve and provide solutions.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, strict attention to details and ability to multitask and prioritize as necessary, with minimal supervisory direction.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must work well and communicate with others. Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks.
  • Strong Work Ethic: Willingness to work hard and long hours, when needed. Must be available to work overtime and some Saturdays, as needed.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, will be required to sit, use hands to finger, talk or hear and occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to lift and/move up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance version, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and ability to adjust focus.
