JOB TITLE: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING INTERN

DEPARTMENT: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

REPORTS TO: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR

CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT

Primary Function:

Under direct supervision, the Electrical Engineering intern will support the design of electrical systems for aircraft installations and work on a diverse set of Aerospace projects from rapid modification of aircraft.

Potential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Take on innovative and engaging problems on flight ready, world record breaking aircraft
  • Support electrical design and documentation of the World record setting endurance UAS, Vanilla
  • Shadow and provide assistance to the Electrical Engineering team through circuit, power system and PCB design
  • Perform power and electrical systems tests toward FAA or DoD aircraft standards
  • Propose recommendations of electrical systems changes within technical roadmap and strategy documents
  • Maintain Bill of Materials and become familiar with Platform Aerospace Purchasing Order and Material control processes
  • Perform aircraft ring outs (work hands on aircraft with electrical technicians to check cable continuity and functionality against electrical drawings) and debug real time electrical problems
  • Shadow and work alongside with a multidisciplinary team composed of Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, and software team members and leads
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and/or required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Familiar with soldering, rapid prototyping, cable assembly and power tool manufacturing
  • Project management and documentation.
  • Interested in Mechatronics & Robotics

Requirements:

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering and/or B.A/B.S. Physics or similar field
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and block diagrams
  • Must be familiar with instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, Digital Multimeters etc.
  • Must have willingness to learn
