Technical Manager Technical Manager (TUV SUD America, Inc.; Auburn Hills, MI): Duties and responsibilities: Provide support for Account Executives from a technical costing perspective; Work with the Business unit management teams to deploy and enhance service offerings; Take calls and e-mails for technical questions, project changes, and job status, from both internal and external customers; Work with customers to develop and finalize test plans; Engage in the Risk Assessment process and ensure that laboratory and personnel are acting and working in a safe and effective manner; Innovate existing and develop new testing techniques and equipment; Operate and troubleshoot test equipment; including customized equipment and software; Ensure staff are equipped with needed testing equipment; Provide input and guidance for coordination of testing; Ensure customer satisfaction through clear communication and meeting expectations; Ensure project timelines are known and adhered to, by completing work within the time allocated; Work with customers to obtain all parts and technical requirements for projects; Update Management with the ongoing status of projects; Support all staff by answering questions and providing guidance and resolutions; Perform technical project reviews after project is completed to ensure any required changes are implemented; Ensure equipment and supplies are sourced and received in compliance with applicable requirements; Keep abreast of present and future Product requirements, test procedures, instrumentation, technology, and TUV SUD Engineering service capabilities by internal training sessions, external seminars, and reading of technical articles; Support Senior and Local Management for project and scheduling activities; Work with international teams to harmonize and leverage expertise in various areas; Perform product testing and assessments to applicable requirements; Provide training as necessary for test Engineers; Correspond, orally, and in writing, with Agencies such as UL, CSA, and VDE with respect to Product Design Approaches for Safety. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign/functional equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; PLUS 5 years of operational experience in a laboratory environment working directly with Automotive customers on HV battery testing or development. Must have: Demonstrated knowledge of the technical and engineering details of HV battery operations, equipment, and facilities; Demonstrated ability to apply and understand advanced electrical and mechanical concepts; Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to be highly observant; Demonstrated testing and technical development (software and hardware) experience; Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines; Demonstrated high level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Arduino, LabView, Visual Basic, and C; Demonstrated high level of proficiency in operating laboratory test equipment (including native equipment); Demonstrated ability to stay focused and professional in a fast paced and stressful environment.
