Job DescriptionThe Senior Director of Accelerated Training is responsible for providing strategic leadership in the deployment of workforce training, professional academies, and continuing education statewide. The Senior Director will be responsible for managing a diverse range of training products, developing individual product goals for grant and cash training, and ensuring profitability while pursuing growth opportunities within the TSTC footprint. The Senior Director will work with a wide range of business, community, secondary education, state, and federal agencies and organizations, as well as TSTC entities. The Senior Director will develop tools for statewide departments in an effort to improve tracking, reporting, and data collection to facilitate the division's performance analysis and continuous improvement efforts.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students, and members of the community.

  • Provides high-level leadership and P&L responsibility for Accelerated Training statewide while providing immediate supervision of the Accelerated Training Deployment Team across the state, including performance management, professional development, budget management, and personnel issues, as well as developing and promoting systems that will assist in operational improvement in assigned department.

  • Collaborate with senior management and Integrated Marketing to ensure alignment with the TSTC System's mission, values, goals, and objectives, as well as develop business plans for expansion of product lines or additional territory.

  • Devotes time for key client visits to promote multi-level relationships with management while targeting new relationships with potential key clients/employers. Works with multiple TSTC business units to accomplish this by developing an effective sales strategy to increase training, enrollment, graduate placement, and profitability for TSTC.

  • Creates and maintains strategic statewide alliances with major industry partners, the Texas Workforce Commission, local workforce boards, community organizations, Economic Development Corporations, and other educational institutions.

  • Develops, implements, and manages a statewide, comprehensive pricing strategy for the Accelerated Training Solutions department to ensure optimal balance between training growth and profit margin goals.

  • Develops and manages an annual statewide operating budget, including remaining responsible for adherence to budget parameters and regularly monitoring department revenues and expenses. Full P&L responsibility for all Accelerated Training programs, managing the overall profitability statewide and supporting the long-term financial sustainability and success of the profit center.

  • Serves as the major advisor and economic development contact for the TSTC in fulfilling the Accelerated Training needs of local and regional business and industry through skills training programs while participating in various college committees, including a variety of leadership groups and teams.

  • Advises and responds to questions from statewide departments and external agencies regarding complex issues or policies impacting assigned programs and services. Investigates, addresses and resolves problems, grievances, and complaints related to area of responsibility

  • Participates in long-term Accelerated Training planning in conjunction with the External Relations Leadership Team, focusing on skills-based training and economic development.

  • Works collaboratively with other cross-functional areas of the college in the planning, development, coordination, and delivery of accelerated training and services and to advance workforce development efforts.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience will be considered.

  • 4-5 years experience in a leadership or management role, overseeing teams and driving operational excellence preferred.

  • 5 years of sales experience in higher education or workforce development. Experience with managing budgets, P&L responsibility, and project management, along with knowledge of evaluation methods preferred.

  • 4-5 years of progressive leadership experience in business or industry preferred. Demonstrated successful ability in education and/or training with knowledge of workforce development and instructional programs.

Critical Competencies/KSAs:

  • Accelerated Training: Demonstrated experience in accelerated course/curriculum development with practical involvement in developing and implementing a variety of credit, noncredit, and short-term credit programs.

  • Collaboration: Strong aptitude for collaborating across departments and functions to achieve shared goals and maximize impact.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect and analyze relevant data and metrics to measure the impact of external and community engagement efforts. Prepare reports and presentations for the Associate Vice Chancellor and senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think critically, analyze data and trends, and develop innovative strategies for external relations.

  • Organization and Attention to Detail: Displays strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate and efficient completion of tasks. This includes the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, maintain structured processes, and deliver high-quality results.

  • Stakeholder Needs Assessment: Skill in conducting needs analysis and working with businesses, associations, and government agencies to determine training needs.

  • Leadership: Team leadership skills, with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop staff and provide strategic guidance, inspire teams, and drive results. Ability to work independently and assume decision-making responsibilities - planning, execution, completion, and monitoring.

  • Relationship Building: Proven track record in establishing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders to advance organizational goals.

  • Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clarity, influence, and impact across various internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ethical Conduct: Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting integrity in all external relations activities.

  • Innovation: Experience in evaluating, developing, and implementing operational improvements through automation and process redesign to enable scalability and velocity. Ability to identify emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in external relations and apply them strategically to advance TSTC's objectives.

  • Profit Center Management: Proficient in financial management practices with a strategic mindset to drive revenue growth and operational efficiency for a revenue-generating profit center. Demonstrates expertise in developing and managing complex budgets, analyzing financial data, forecasting outcomes, and executing strategic plans to increase overall profitability statewide and support long-term financial sustainability and organizational success.
