Under the Student Affairs Division, the Student Outreach and Retention (SOAR) Center at UCI cultivates a community of authentic student leaders that aspire to develop innovative, student-initiated outreach and retention programs that foster critical dialogue, mentorship and shift the educational paradigm to improve college access, readiness, and retention rates for historically marginalized communities in higher education. SOAR is a dynamic space that empowers student scholars through praxis to advocate and develop a transformative and equitable educational environment where students can use their education as a vehicle for social impact.

Currently SOAR has various initiatives that support academic achievement, retention, and recruitment efforts for historically underrepresented, low-income, first generation students.


Your Role on the Team

Plans and implements program activities and events to engage students in campus life and help them integrate socially and academically to UCI. Program management of resource activities, community-building events, student panels, external request for college visits/tours and presentations of year-long SOAR programs. Coordinates academic and enrichment workshops and plans program events to support the academic achievement of UCI students with a focus on first-generation, low-income students. Provides mentorship and oversees student staff, interns, and volunteers. Responsible for the development, of center alumni engagement strategy development and execution.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $25.77- $27.00 (Hourly).

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • 2-5 years' experience in higher education or relevant field
  • Event planning or program planning

Special Conditions:

  • May work occasional nights and weekends.
  • Others tasks as assigned
