As part of the Gillings School of Global Public Health, the NC Institute of Public Health (
NCIPH). The mission of
NCIPH is to collaboratively lead and foster innovative solutions to public health challenges in NC and beyond - by creating systems, programs and policies that work for all. |
Position Summary |
NCIPH workforce programs serve as an important resource for public health professionals across the state, region and country. We value our role in shaping the professional education and leadership development of the public health workforce and align ourselves with the stated values of
UNC Gillings to uphold a climate that is intentionally diverse and inclusive.
The Instructional Technologist will provide support to
NCIPH workforce development projects. These projects include fee-based continuing education courses and other training events, as well as grant and contract supported activities that help support capacity-building at NC public health agencies. The person in this role will provide design thinking, strategic planning, and instructional technology skills to the development of e-learning modules and the building and maintenance of courses in learning management systems.
The person in this role will be expected to:
* Work closely with
NCIPH workforce development team members and technical support contacts to ensure successful project design and implementation
* Contribute to the design, development and evaluation of technology-based instructional design solutions for e-learning modules and our learning management system (TalentLMS)
* Coordinate with external partners and clients to understand their workforce development program needs and co-create solutions based on system capabilities
* Integrate technology solutions to improve delivery of existing and new workforce development programs
* Assist with day-to-day administration of the learning management system including customer service, development of user guides, and user support
* Create e-learning modules from story boards and edit existing modules using technologies such as Articulate 360 and Vyond
* Assess the effectiveness of learning experiences via program evaluation efforts and performance metrics established by the team

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Experience with creating or editing e-learning modules using software such as Articulate 360 and Vyond.
* Formal training or experience in applying design thinking principles to learning.
* Ability to work independently within a team-based structure to accomplish goals and objectives according to project timelines.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Detail oriented.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Teams/365 and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) or similar platforms (such as Google-based products).
* Proficiency with Zoom or other video-conferencing platforms |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Experience with
LMS software, such as TalentLMS software.
* Experience with video and image editing.
* Familiarity with
CDC Quality Training Standards.
* Familiarity with Asana or similar project management tools.
* Experience developing content for online learning.
* Prior experience in developing instructional technology for continuing professional development. |
