Position Summary
The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Health Sciences are seeking energetic, organized and detail-oriented applicants to apply to join our collaborative clinical research team as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate. The successful candidate will serve as the lead for point of care research programs in the musculoskeletal sciences with primary focus on post operative functional recovery and real-world evidence. Primary duties include working with clinical & research faculty/staff to support subject recruitment, screening and enrollment and regulatory oversight and leading data collection, entry and quality assurance. Strong communication skills across medical disciplines and ability to interface with an interdisciplinary research team are requisite. This is a fixed term position for 2 years with additional years (up to 4) based on successfully achieving study goals and availability of funding.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in kinesiology, exercise science, biomechanics or related field with interest/expertise in lower extremity musculoskeletal injury, rehabilitation and outcomes. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The candidate must have very strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills, and must be able to work independently. It is essential that the candidate be able to analyze and interpret institutional and regulatory policy and procedural guidelines and apply those appropriately. The candidate must have demonstrated experience and/or ability in organizing workflow and coordinating multiple tasks. Strong writing skills and a history of abstract presentations at professional conferences and published manuscripts in top peer reviewed journals and previous experience/exposure to database management, data analytics and statistics.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Clinical background (ie PT, ATC), Advanced competency with MS Office, database / entry interfaces (ie REDCap, etc). Experience and competence with electronic medical record (ie EPIC). Familiarity with real world evidence and point of care research. Prior experience with grant writing, submissions / awards.
