Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
Our Dermatology Residency and Medical Education Program is a nationally accredited, three-year program, which meets all training requirements of the
ACGME. The
UNC Department of Dermatology is dedicated to excellence in medical education and patient care. We provide a comprehensive and immersive learning experience for 18 residents, 2 fellows, and 32 medical students annually. Our Program provides training opportunities at all of our Dermatology clinic locations in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and Hillsborough and Dermatopathology in Chapel Hill.
Our program emphasizes a strong focus on medical education, ensuring that our residents and fellows receive top-tier training in both clinical and research settings. Our faculty, comprised of leading experts in dermatology, are committed to mentoring and guiding the next generation of dermatologists. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, fostering an environment of academic rigor and clinical excellence.
Residents and fellows benefit from a diverse range of clinical experiences, including general dermatology, dermatopathology, pediatric dermatology, and procedural dermatology. Our state-of-the-art facilities and access to cutting-edge technology enable our trainees to stay at the forefront of dermatological advancements. Our graduates are able to successfully pursue any of several career paths, including clinical practice, fellowship training, industry or academic medicine.

Position Summary |
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The
GME Residency Program Coordinator will provide day to day coordination of the clinical and educational activities of the residency training program under the direction of the Residency Program Director with the
UNC Department of Dermatology. The Coordinator will interact with various stakeholders, including faculty, residents, fellows, medical students, and administrative offices. The coordinator will be directly involved in planning, recruitment, rotations, in-services, training exams, onboarding/orientation, and graduation activities. This position will work in concert with the Program Director in monitoring current and new updates of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (
ACGME), American Board of Dermatology, and other applicable accrediting bodies associated with the field of Graduate Medical Education (
GME); to help maintain residency accreditation. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
The work requirements of this position include:

* Adaptability: Skills to adapt quickly to changes in work requirements and assignments.
* Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (
ACGME) and National Resident Matching Program (
NRMP) policies and procedures.
* Professionalism and Confidentiality: Ability to show diplomacy, compassion, sensitivity, and handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
A background in student activities with experience in health care and clinical environment is preferred. An understanding of a hospital's regulatory environment is highly favorable. |

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities. |
