This position is responsible for assisting the delivering of products to customers from Sherwin-Williams stores using box and flat-bed trucks. Delivery Driver Helpers are also expected to assist in the loading and unloading of the delivery vehicles, maintaining proper safety equipment, ensure maximum customer satisfaction, and maintain the high quality and visual standards of the vehicle.
Job duties involve contact with customers, which may include minors; and access to cash and other payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, store merchandise and other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's customers, staff, employees, vendors, contractors, and the general public.
The individual selected for this role will be expected to work at Store #704308, located at: 62-16 34th Avenue, Woodside, NY 11377
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service
- Support the sales efforts at a Sherwin-Williams commercial paint store, servicing wholesale customers.
- Assist in loading and unloading of all material set for delivery.
- Assist in contacting customers/stores prior to deliver/pick-up.
- Assist driver in adhering to safety procedures and traffic regulations.
- Support the sales efforts at a Sherwin-Williams store
- Assist in retaining proper customer signature and delivery photo, via handheld device.
- The Lumper works a varied schedule depending upon deliveries associated with customer orders. Typically, hours of work will begin at approximately 6:00 am and end at approximately 3:00 pm.
- Days of work may vary depending upon business volume and customer demands.
- Many hours may be spent riding in the passenger seat of a truck/van.

- Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
- Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
- Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to hear up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.
- May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
- May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
- May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
- Work surfaces may include concrete.
- Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as needed.
- Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
- Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.
- Must be able to operate a hand pallet jack, hand truck or electronic pallet jack.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
- Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. on occasion
- Must be willing to work all scheduled hours, which may include evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Operate material handling equipment (e.g. hand truck, pallet jack, forklift, etc.) safely once trained, with or without reasonable accommodation
- If internal to Sherwin-Williams, you must have received at least a "meets expectations" (3) rating on your most recent performance appraisal
- If internal to Sherwin-Williams, you must have completed all HR Cloud eLearning courses required for your current position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have a valid, unrestricted Driver's License
- Have at least a High School diploma or GED
- Have at least one (1) year experience working in a delivery, retail, or customer service position
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience using material handling equipment (for example: forklifts (stand and sit), pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacu-hoists, drum dollys, conveyor belts, etc.)
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in Spanish
