DIVISION DIRECTOR, DIVISION OF INFORMATION AND INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS National Science Foundation, Alexandria, VA NSF's Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) is seeking a candidate for its Division Director, Division of Information and Intelligent Systems (IIS). IIS is responsible for programs with a total annual budget of approximately $200 million. IIS studies the inter-related roles of people, computers, and information. IIS administers research and education activities that 1) develop new knowledge about the role of people in the design and use of information technology; 2) increase our capability to create, manage, and understand data and information in circumstances ranging from personal computers to globally-distributed systems; and 3) advance our understanding of how computational systems can exhibit the hallmark of intelligence. Desired Additional information Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) Assignment: Individuals eligible for an IPA assignment with a Federal agency include employees of State and local government agencies or institutions of higher education, Indian tribal governments, and other eligible organizations in instances where such assignments would be of mutual benefit to the organizations involved. Initial assignments under IPA provisions may be made for a period up to two years, with a possible extension for up to an additional two-year period. The individual remains an employee of the home institution and NSF provides the negotiated funding toward the assignee's salary and benefits. Initial IPA assignments are made for a one-year period and may be extended by mutual agreement. Salary: The salary noted above is based on the rate of pay for Federal Division Directors. The IPA assignment salary is based on the current salary at the IPA's home institution. This is a rotator position.
