The Department of Slavic Languages & Literatures at Harvard University seeks applications for a position as Preceptor in Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian language. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2025 with teaching beginning in Fall Semester 2025. The preceptor will be responsible for courses in beginning and intermediate Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian language (4 courses per academic year) with additional tutorials in advanced Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian as needed. The preceptor will work with the Director of the Slavic Language Program to develop courses and materials in Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian language and assist with recruitment of students and expanding interest in the Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian language program. An interest in furthering broader Slavic Language Program goals is highly desirable, including research in Slavic linguistics and second-language acquisition as well as possible establishment of opportunities for study abroad in the former Yugoslavia. This is a full-time appointment for three years, renewable for a term of up to five years, contingent on performance, enrollments, curricular need, position availability, and divisional dean authorization. The successful applicant should have experience in teaching Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian; language program and curriculum development; student advising and recruitment; materials design; teaching with technology; instructor training; and have native or near-native proficiency in Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian and English. An MA or PhD or equivalent graduate training is preferred. Interviews will be conducted by Zoom in February 2025.
