2025 Summer Intern - Prescient Design (MLDD), Structural and Computational Biology

Department Summary

At Prescient Design, our mission is to develop and apply cutting-edge methods to design novel molecules. We are seeking an exceptional graduate student intern to join our Structural and Computational Biology team, keen to work on physics-, chemistry-, and biology-informed models for large molecule drug development.

For this role, we are particularly interested in candidates with a background in computational antibody design, developability assessment, and/or differentiable molecular simulation.As an intern, you will collaborate with a team spanning computational sciences (gCS) and experimental large molecule assessment (gRED Drug Discovery; PharmDev), and make meaningful contributions to complex antibody design challenges.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, CA, on-site.

The Opportunity

• Participate in cutting-edge research in physics-based modeling and ML towards applications in large molecule drug discovery, design, and development.

• Develop workflows for in silicodevelopability assessment and self-interaction prediction of complex antibody formats.

• Apply model to molecular design tasks for experimental validation.

• Contribute to publications and present at internal and external scientific conferences.

Program Highlights

• Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

• Program start dates are between May and June 2025

• A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

Who You Are

Required Education: Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors: Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Physics, Chemical/Biological Engineering, or related technical field.

Required Skills:

• Strong programming skills in Python

• Experience in physics-based modeling techniques for proteins (e.g., molecular dynamics, Rosetta)

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

• [strongly preferred] experience with: PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX

• Experience with antibody structure and function

• Strong publication record and/or experience contributing to research communities

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

The expected salary for this position based on the primary location of California is $50.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
