The Position 2025 Summer Intern - Regenerative Medicine

Department Summary

The Regenerative Medicine Department at Genentech seeks to develop therapeutics for the restoration and rejuvenation of tissues and organs. Our work is highly collaborative with other departments in Research and Early Development, and draws on multiple modalities to address pressing patient needs. The Lamba lab is seeking an intern to join our retinal cell therapy efforts for the summer of 2025.

The Opportunity

As an Intern, you will be responsible for designing, performing, and analyzing experiments in support of retinal cell therapies with the help of your manager. You will complete experiments independently as appropriate, read primary literature relevant to your work, attend relevant meetings and seminars, prepare a poster, and present your findings in the form of a final presentation to the department.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education

- Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree no more than 2 years ago.

Required Majors

Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be a 2025 GEM Fellow.

  • Relevant work experience in research labs or the biotechnology industry (2+ years).

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills evidenced by poster presentations at regional/national meetings.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

  • Commitment to being trained in a new area and asking questions to support learning.

  • Passionate about learning the basics of drug discovery in an industry setting.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

Please note: The goal of the internship will be to train you; you do not need to have all of these skills in order to apply.

  • Cell culture experience (stem cell culturing and differentiation)

  • Lab expertise: confocal microscopy, tissue dissociation, magnetic cell sorting

  • Experience reading primary publications from scientific journals

  • Experience with organizational software: Google calendar, Slack, or others

  • Time management: organizing to-do lists, setting priorities, and following through to meet goals and deadlines

  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques, pipetting, and wet lab measurements

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $31.00-$33.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
