Oneonta City School District has the following anticipated vacancies: Security Guards This is a 10-month position with benefits and a starting salary of $29,580. Applicants must possess a valid NYS Security Guard Registration Card which must be presented at time of appointment and maintained during employment OR qualify for an exemption per the NYS Division of Licensing Services. Thisposition is subject to the satisfaction of all civil services requirements.We are seeking a vigilant and reliable School Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and school property. The Security Guard will monitor campus activity, enforce school policies, and respond promptly to emergencies, fostering a secure and welcoming learning environment. Key responsibilities include patrolling school premises, controlling access points, monitoring surveillance systems, and addressing unauthorized activities. The role requires maintaining positive interactions with students, staff, and visitors while upholding a firm yet approachable demeanor.The ideal candidate will have strong observational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a similar field is preferred. Effective communication skills and knowledge of emergency response protocols are essential. Candidates must pass background checks and possess any required security certifications.
