EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Part Time
Contract Term:
January 1 thru December 31; 5 hours daily (10am-3 pm Monday through Friday), Occasional evening and weekend hours.
Reports to:
Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce President
Wage Range: $16-19/hour
Position Summary:
The Executive Director is responsible and accountable to the Board of Directors to provide executive leadership to the Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce.
Professional Experience & Education:
- Working knowledge of local, regional and state-level political systems and experience in developing collaborative relationships in these areas.
- Social Media Management (Meta) experience required.
- Proficiency or a desire to learn Quickbooks, Constant Contact, Canva and Google Suites.
- Management/executive level experience in a business-related field or other leadership position, including oversight of finances desired but not required.
- Previous event management experience preferred.
Requisite Skills & Abilities:
- Outstanding public speaking and presentation skills.
- Strong written communication, customer service, time management and event planning skills required.
- An ability to collaborate and network which fosters teamwork between/among stakeholders (Board members, volunteer staff, Chamber members, community leaders, elected officials and strategic committees and organizations.)
- Strong Executive and supervisory skills, including ability to plan, organize, lead, delegate and monitor.
- Excellent skills in community consensus building.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage multiple budgets, to analyze organization performance and to project financial performance.
- Ability to perform cost-benefit analysis of proposed ideas, projects and events.
- Ability to motivate others to be champions of chamber initiatives.
- Strong commitment to personal growth.
- Commitment to the best business practices for the Chamber.
Job Responsibilities/Governance:
- Lead, direct and develop Chamber’s fundraising strategies.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chamber, including management of programs, volunteer staffing, membership and marketing efforts.
- Prepare and communicate agendas and materials for the Board, general membership and sub committee groups.
- Attend Chamber Board committee meetings and provide staff support to committee efforts.
- Maintain open communication with the Board and work with the Board in the governance of the Chamber; bring issues to the Board in a timely fashion.
Job Responsibilities/Public Relations & Marketing:
- Develop goals and objectives for recommendation to the Board.
- Serve as the principal spokesperson and ambassador for the Chamber.
- Represent the Chamber at business and community events, meetings, etc.
- Build partnerships with other organizations.
- Support the officers of the Chamber.
- Participate and coordinate in membership and sponsorship sales drives.
- Identify and develop revenue generation programs and events.
- Operate within and advance the policies of the Chamber.
- Assure that organization priorities are responsive to member needs and serve to advance the City of Spooner’s economic welfare.
- Create and implement separate local and room tax marketing plans.
- Develop and maintain a positive and helpful relationship with city and county governmental agencies; neighboring Chambers and the State chamber.
- Any additional duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
