The Journal Star in Peoria, Illinois, is looking for an energetic sports reporter to cover trending topics in college sports, with an emphasis on the University of Illinois. This full-time position requires an ability to spot interesting topics in sports and drive the conversation by providing context to the biggest and most interesting stories to readers. The ideal candidate is a team player who is motivated, social media savvy and produces content on a daily basis. We will also expect contributions to high school sports coverage and occasional articles on pro sports in Illinois. We're a guild newsroom, with a work week of 7.5 hours a day and 37.5 hours a week. Starting pay for this position is $47,000, with benefits. Weekend work is expected regularly. Requirements:
