About the position:
The Senior Director, Strategy and Content, Live Media is a subject-matter expert who will conceptualize, create and execute events, conferences and live media with insightful, engaging and influential content that aligns with our position as the leading destination for the public finance industry.
The successful candidate will report to the SVP of Strategy and Content, Live Media and work closely with our editorial and sales organization to collaboratively develop and share market intelligence, leads, and other useful information to achieve content, revenue and contribution targets on all events and live media within the portfolio. They will develop a pipeline of strong virtual events, seminars and podcasts and other formats with content and commercial appeal.
Additionally, the Senior Director, Strategy and Content, Live Media will serve as a brand ambassador at company conferences, events and live media, as well as outside public finance industry events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain strong relationships and an extensive network of public finance industry-leading speakers, potential new entrants, partners and sponsors
- Identify key themes and trends across the industry that translate into thoughtful, engaging and compelling conference agendas and live media formats
- Have deep relationships with high-profile expert keynote speakers from within the industry as well as on the periphery
- Ideate and execute innovative Event, Conferences and Live Media formats and structures that drive value for target participants
- Focus on diversifying speaker lineups to be representative of a larger swath of the market, via age, gender, political viewpoints and geographic representation
- Own and maintain relationships with public finance industry groups to grow event audience in partnership with marketing team
- Conduct focus groups for each event in the portfolio with key constituencies
- Lead the development of new revenue streams and event platforms
- Conduct core market research and validate new event ideas to increase the conference, event and live media portfolio and its financial performance
- Lead the flawless execution of events along with event production team
- Manage the event P&L in keeping with budget and forecast
- Serve as podcast leader, and event moderator
- Ongoing content contributor in live events format
- Work across the Event, Conferences and Live Media group to collaborate and share best practices with peers, where appropriate
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5-8 years of editorial, conference, event and/or live media content development and programming experience—this is not an event planning, operations or logistics—with a focus on developing and leading high-profile B2B, content-rich events, conferences, and live media.
- A four-year college degree is desired, preferably in Journalism or Business.
- Candidates must possess strong writing ability and deep expertise and knowledge of market players in one or more of the following industries: banking and financial services, insurance, accounting, wealth management, employee benefits and fintech industries.
- Experience with events and registration platforms is plus but not required.
- Proficient in persuasive, clear, and concise writing and communication.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base salary: $120,000 - $130,000 annually
- Bonus: Eligible for a performance-based bonus of up to 10% of the base salary
