Associate Editor, Columbus Monthly

The associate editor provides editorial support to the magazine and sister publications including writing, editing, web production, social media management and other duties as needed. The associate editor generates ideas and contributes features and shorter stories to the magazine each month and works closely with designers and photographers to produce the magazine and special advertising sections. This role also provides editing, proofreading and research support for Columbus Monthly, Columbus Weddings and special publications.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or master's in communications, journalism or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 1-3 years of experience as a writer and editor for a print publication.

• The ideal candidate has a desire to make an impact on the community with a positive and upbeat attitude, compassion, excellent people skills and strong organizational skills.

• You should thrive in a deadline-driven environment.

• Feel comfortable with content management systems.

• Know AP Style

• Experience in Magazine Publications.

• solid understanding of how to use social media platforms and Microsoft Office products.

• Excellent organizational, inter-personal and communication skills.

• Exceptional planning and organizational skills.

• Industry knowledge.

• This position must reside in Columbus, Ohio area to cover local market.

• Attend magazine events as needed.
