Mechanic/Welder Ada County Highway District is now accepting applications for the position of Mechanic/Welder in the Fleet Department. Starting wage is $25.10 - $28.90 per hour / DOQ.ACHD offers an excellent benefit package with medical, vision and dental insurance, paid vacation andholidays, paid parental leave, 401K match and membership in the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI).Primary Responsibilities: The Mechanic/Welder is responsible for welding, cutting and heating various broken machine partsand castings as well as laying out and cutting steel from flats, channels and angle irons. The incumbent operates hand and power tools such as a grinding machine, power hammer, powerhack saw or sheet metal roll and break. Performs mechanical repairs to trucks, automobiles, and heavy construction equipment.Qualifications: Must have considerable knowledge of metals, alloys and standard shop practices and techniquesused in welding, cutting, brazing, heating and shaping metals. Must have considerable knowledge of welding, fabrication and equipment repair hazards and safetyprecautions. The incumbent must supply his/her own tools. Must have considerable experience as a welder/fabricator including experience in the repair andgeneral maintenance of heavy-duty construction equipment; completion of a recognizedapprenticeship or schooling program; OR any equivalent combination of experience and trainingwhich provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities.A completed ACHD Employment Application is required and must be submitted to Human Resources by4: 30pm on November 14, 2024.
