Assistant Professor – Nursing SUNY Broome Community College has a full-time, 10-month, tenure track appointment opening for an Assistant Professor in Nursing, starting in Spring 2025. This nursing career opportunity comes with an academic work schedule from August to May with time off to enjoy the summer months. The ten (10) month salary is spread over twelve (12) months to allow for consistent, uninterrupted pay periods. The Associate Degree Nursing Program at SUNY Broome offers both a day option and an evening-weekend option for working students. Primary responsibilities for nursing faculty include, but are not limited to didactic, skills laboratory, and clinical instruction, curriculum development, committee assignments for the program and college, and ensuring achievement of program outcomes. Continuing growth of the program will focus on an innovative concept-based curriculum, increased simulation learning experiences for all program levels, and renovated classrooms and nursing labs. Dynamic partnerships with community healthcare agencies help meet the growing demand for RNs in the local community.
Master's degree in Nursing required (current enrollment in a nursing master's degree program will be considered). Must be licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in New York State. Three (3) years of teaching experience or appropriate combination of teaching, relevant work experience, or scholarly activity required. Two (2) years of hospital-based medical/surgical experience desired. Current experience in Medical-Surgical nursing or specialty areas including Psychiatric-Mental Health, Maternal-Newborn and Child Health nursing highly desired. Ability to teach evening class and every other weekend clinical preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate strength in teaching, learner engagement, student support, teamwork, professional development, and the ability to foster collaboration within the division, College, and community. The salary for this position ranges from $56,606 to $70,758. Education and experience will be taken into consideration in determining the hiring salary. Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
