ASSISTANT PROFESSOR TENURE-TRACK POSITION The Department of Biochemistry at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, invites applications for an academic year tenure-track assistant professor position. As a department comprised of scholars conducting interdisciplinary research, we seek an outstanding scientist with research interests broadly related to biochemical pathways in humans, plants, or other research models. We welcome candidates studying these pathways in the context of human diseases, such as cancer, metabolic syndromes, or infectious diseases, as well as in other biological contexts, including those related to the Purdue One Health initiative: https://www.purdue.edu/onehealth/. Researchers who integrate cutting-edge methodologies, including systems biology, computational and machine learning approaches, high-throughput screening, and techniques for studying macromolecular dynamics and interactions, are particularly encouraged to apply. We value diverse perspectives and strongly encourage applications from individuals with innovative approaches that intersect with biochemistry, molecular biology, biophysics, and related fields. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized and extramurally funded research program, interact with diverse faculty, staff and students across campus, and contribute to the teaching mission of the department and university. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Course modality is generally in person. The potential may exist for teaching online/distance courses during the academic year. Candidates will also be expected to function as active members of the departmental and university faculty and foster a collegial and inclusive environment. Purdue University has a large and vibrant life science community. Our faculty spans disciplines that include biochemistry, biological sciences, molecular genetics, plant biology, agriculture, engineering, pharmacy, chemical, physical and computational sciences. In addition to our biochemistry graduate program, faculty can also participate in interdisciplinary graduate programs with focus areas in biophysics, biotechnology, cancer biology, chemical biology, computational biology, microbiology, and neuroscience and plant biology. Core facilities for high-throughput screening, phenotyping, genomics, bioinformatics, microscopy, NMR, X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, flow cytometry, metabolomics, lipidomics and proteomics are readily available on campus. The Department of Biochemistry resides in Purdue Universitys College of Agriculture which is one of the worlds leading colleges of agricultural, food, life, and natural-resource sciences and is fifth in the world and third in United States according to the 2024 QS World University Rankings. The College is deeply committed to the three land-grant missions (teaching, research, and extension), to international activities and perspectives that span all missions, and to excellence in all we do. The College of Agriculture and the Department of Biochemistry are committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Our leadership, faculty, staff, and students are engaged in many efforts that are consistent with this commitment. The College has 11 academic departments 306 faculty members, 2,984 undergraduate students, and 690 graduate students. More information about the College can be accessed at: https://ag.purdue.edu/ Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field, including but not limited to biochemistry, biological sciences, molecular and cell biology, genetics, structural biology, plant biology or computational biology. Applicants should have at least two years of post-doctoral experience or its equivalent, a strong publication record, the potential to develop a vigorous, extramurally funded research program, a commitment to hypothesis-driven research, and teaching excellence. Applicants may learn more about the Department of Biochemistry at https://ag.purdue.edu/biochem/Pages/default.aspx.
