Purdue Engineering invites applications for a tenured/tenure track position at all ranks (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor). The COE recently launched a Purdue Engineering Initiative in Defense Innovations, to address current and near-future relevant multidisciplinary research and workforce education needs to support U.S. national security and defense. Purdue University seeks to attract exceptional candidates with interests and expertise related to relevant Defense-related fields, including but not limited to directed energy, hypersonics, integrated sensing, electronic warfare, energetic materials, propulsion, space technology, microelectronics, cybersecurity, biotechnology, quantum science, future generation wireless technology, advanced materials, trusted AI and autonomy, integrated network systems-of-systems, human-machine interfaces. US citizenship is not required to apply for this position; however, many of the externally funded national defense-related research opportunities require US citizenship and may also require the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret clearance.Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in a related discipline to their research area by the employment start date and demonstrate potential to build an independent research program, as well as potential to educate and mentor students. The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the School, College, and University levels. While the focus in this search is on candidates with potential tenure homes appointments in the Schools of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, applicants interested in other engineering schools are welcome to apply.
