WE ARE OFFERING A STARTING SALARY IN THE RANGE OF $16 -$29 PER HOUR BASED ON EXPERIENCE.
The Machinist serves in the role of production mechanic and machinist. Performs advanced level mechanical fabrication, maintenance diagnoses, and repairs on designated production equipment and systems in an industrial environment to support efficient production operations as needed.
Serve in a role as part of a team to achieve and maintain on-time production performance, product quality, and accuracy standards as well as operational safety, including OSHA and EPA compliance.
Responsibilities
Technical Services Department Tasks
- Provide direction, schedule and perform advanced mechanical fabrication, maintenance, and repairs on designated equipment which may include, but are not limited to: which may include, but are not limited to CTP Imagers, processors, benders; press printing units, reels, dampening & inking systems; inserting equipment, stackers, strappers, labelers, applicators, bindery equipment, conveyors, motors, pumps, dryers, industrial equipment, and other ancillary equipment.
- Provide facility mechanical system support that may include HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Participate in the installation of new equipment or updates to existing equipment as needed.
- Assist management and contract service providers as needed.
Safety
- Always work safely and consistently utilize the required safety equipment to promote top-of-mind safety awareness.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Complete required annual OSHA safety training programs: Lockout/Tag-out, Hazardous Communications, Personal Protective Equipment, Hearing Conservation, Blood Borne Pathogens, Forklift.
- Ensure all machine safety guards are installed, functioning properly, and in use.
- Immediately reporting potential safety hazards, operational concerns, and all accidents/injuries and near misses to production management.
Communication
- Provide timely and accurate information to management.
- Immediately report equipment or product issues to production management.
- Communicate scheduling needs to supervisors and production management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Certified machinist training required (vocational school, military, trade).
- Minimum of five years' related experience in mechanical fabrication, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair required.
- Certified machinist training required (Vocational school, military, trade).
- Journeyman level machinist certification preferred.
- HVAC maintenance & repair experience preferred.
- Knowledge of fluid and air power devices (air cylinders/pneumatics).Working knowledge and ability to use lathes, milling machines, drill presses, plasma cutters, hydraulic presses, band saw, welding equipment, metal spray, and various other power equipment required.
- Equipment and facility electrical system experience preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations required.
- English language fluency: Speaking, reading, and writing.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven excellent time management skills working in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Proven ability (by experience) to work under deadline with a sense of urgency.
- Ability and knowledge of welding, plumbing, multi-meter, and fork truck.
- Good PC Skills including Microsoft Office: E-mail, Excel, Word.
