Job Summary:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) provides comprehensive mental health and Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) care to individuals across the lifespan. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with psychiatric and substance abuse disorders, utilizing advanced clinical skills and knowledge. The PNP collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to deliver holistic care, emphasizing patient-centered approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status exams, history taking, and physical assessments.
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Formulate diagnoses based on clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
- Medication Management: Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychotropic medications and Buprenorphine as part of the MAT program; adjusting dosages based on patient response and side effects.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Provide individual, group, and family therapy as appropriate. Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and improve outcomes.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies to enhance understanding and engagement in care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and support to patients in acute distress, ensuring safety and stabilization.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with developments in psychiatric nursing and mental health treatment, participating in ongoing education and training.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization in psychiatric-mental health.
- Licensure: Current RN license in Oklahoma and certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by a recognized body (e.g., ANCC).
- Experience: 2 or more years of clinical experience in psychiatric nursing or mental health settings preferred.
- Ability to manage a caseload.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, knowledge of psychopharmacology, and experience with various therapeutic modalities. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Working Conditions:
- Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm
- May involve working in diverse settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, community health centers, and telehealth platforms
