Position Summary: The Manager, Fleet Services is responsible for overseeing the company's fleet operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective use of vehicles and equipment. This role involves managing the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of vehicles, optimizing fleet performance, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, in addition to the day-to-day management of fleet mechanics ensuring high standards of customer service. This role also provides critical support to the Logistics Lead during major restoration events.

Position Responsibilities



  • Manage vehicle and equipment acquisition, leasing, and disposal processes.
  • Supervise the mechanic shop to ensure that maintenance and repair procedures and schedules used are those recommended by the vehicle and equipment manufactures and meet all regulations.
  • Establish service contracts and review services, ensuring all contactors fulfill specifications.
  • Coordinate all resources and manage work schedules for the mechanic team to insure adequate support and efficient use of manpower.
  • Assisting the purchasing department to ensure availability of supplies and parts to maintain efficient operations. Manage outside vendors and contractors.
  • Collaborate with all departments regarding vehicle and equipment needs, maintenance, and repair support required.
  • Develop and monitor vehicle and equipment replacement schedules to ensure the quality of LCEC's fleet while optimizing economic investments.
  • Prepare, monitor and provide an annual O&M and Capital budget. Operate within budget and identify and lead cost-saving initiatives.
  • Monitor fleet performance metrics, including but not limited to internal service standards for preventative maintenance, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and vehicle downtime.
  • Ensure LCEC's fleet is functioning safely through coordination of a comprehensive inspection program encompassing industry standards and compliance with all federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle registration, insurance, and inspection documentation.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve fleet management practices. Implement new technologies and processes to improve fleet efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Promote positive interaction between staff and others. Ensure customer satisfaction, both internal and external. Represent the assigned area of responsibility for cross-departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain a positive, cooperative, and effective working relationships with contractors, suppliers, customers, and LCEC employees at all levels and departments. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.


Education



  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics or related field. (Required)


Experience



  • 7+ to 10 Years Progressively responsible experience in or directly related to operations, logistics, or fleet functions. (Required) or
  • 5+ years Direct experience in Fleet Management (Required)
  • 5+ years Supervisory experience (Required)
  • Direct leadership experience in fleet maintenance, procurement, and/or inventory control areas related to fleet. (Preferred)
  • Prior supervisory experience in a union environment. (Preferred)
  • Prior utility experience. (Preferred)
